Product Information –

These re-strikes were made especially for the celebration of the docking of the Battleship Texas, at San Jacinto in 1951/52.

They were worn by various dignitaries that presided over the event, and sold to visitors as souveniors.  It is said, that Adm. Chester Nimitz wore a set of these buttons on his US Navy Uniform when he presided over the event.  His uniform is now reported to be in a museum in Washington, with the Texas Navy Buttons still on it.

These buttons were evidently in storage all these years and apparently never used.

The back stamp reads: SCOVILL MFG CO. WATERBURY
